What to send
Five lines that save a day of guessing.
Most problems on a set are about which devices could see each other and what each one thought was happening. Without that, the first reply is only ever a question.
- The app version and build — Settings, at the bottom.
- Which station was open on the device that went wrong, and on the one hosting the set.
- Every device on the set, with its model and iOS or macOS version.
- What you did and what happened instead — including the exact wording of anything the app said.
- The scene, shot and take, if a specific recording is involved. It is how we find it.
Screen recordings beat descriptions. So does a photo of the other device’s screen at the same moment — half of set problems are two devices disagreeing.
Fix it first
The three that come up most.
The devices cannot see each other. Every SyncTake app needs its own Local Network permission, and iOS only asks once. Settings → SyncTake → Local Network. Then confirm every device is on the same Wi-Fi — not one on 5 GHz and one on a guest network — and pull down to rescan. This is the cause far more often than anything else.
A take will not start. The record control refuses until the device knows which production it is shooting for. Tap the production chip and pick or create one. On a set, joining does this for you.
Footage is not on the phone where you expected. If an SSD was attached, the
master went to the drive, by design. Otherwise plug the phone into a Mac or PC and
look under the device in Finder — SyncTake’s Video,
Audio and Snapshots folders are there, and the same folders
appear in the Files app.
The Mac hub
Getting the desktop app.
The studio hub is a direct download rather than a Mac App Store app, because the App Store’s sandbox would cut it off from your footage library and from delivering timelines to Resolve and Final Cut.
Sign in at app.synctake.com/download. It is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens with a double-click — if macOS refuses to open it, the download was damaged or is not ours, and the page publishes a checksum so you can tell which.
Account
Devices, deletion, and getting your material out.
Pair and un-pair devices at app.synctake.com/devices. Revoking a device you have lost takes effect immediately, and its footage stays in your account.
To close an account and erase everything in it, write from the address on the account and it is done within 30 days. What is on your phones and your own Mac is unaffected — it was never only in the cloud. The full picture is in the privacy policy.
